triathlon and family can mix

Writers Block

I guess that old saying ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it’ can be used for more than your fitness.

It has been a couple of weeks since I blogged last. Vacation was awesome with the family and I got some great feedback from the reposts of my top 5 entries in 2013. Thanks for that guys.

As far as the new year, I am having a crap load of a hard time writing anything worth publishing. It isn’t that critical; I am sure that you haven’t been waiting, staring at your computer screen, wondering where Steve is. And not that I make a living with this whole thing; how horrible would that be?

It is my personality; I want to make sure that everything that I do it no less than 100%. This is great in certain scenarios; (1) triathlon training, (2) sales, and (3) renovations. Mix it with a little negative energy and I can sometimes have a hard time completing certain tasks because I can’t find a way past a certain road block causing me to stop altogether.

For example, I currently have five blog posts in my ‘draft’ folder; none of them close to being finished. Lots of good ideas but no way to put them to paper.

Okay sarcastic reader, I know that I can’t literally put them on paper and on a blog.

I am a salesman, and though I can listen well, I can also talk. It was a early age that I was told that I was destined for this profession; I have the gift of gab. Not usually the one who sits in the background and blends in with the crowd, I am usually chatting up a storm with anyone who will listen, no specific topic required.

Where is that now?

I reckon that way past it is to keep chugging along enduring the pain while I figure this thing out. That is what I would do in race or 400m time trial.

Question: Have you comes across writers block in your journey? Any thoughts?

  1. I hear ya my friend! I find that a common problem this time of year, when there’s little to write about during the off season. It takes a lot of creative energy to come up with a new story to tell… and sometimes I run a bit short (and I’m sure it shows in my posts). Keep chugging along, as you say…
